Steve Maclin would like to make the TNA International Championship a truly internationally contested prize.
Steve Maclin became the first TNA International Champion when he defeated Eric Young and AJ Francis for the gold at TNA Unbreakable 2025. Now, he's talking about his plans for the championship moving forward.
During an interview with Wrestling Infos, Maclin expressed his desire to defend the title in international promotions but stressed that those decisions were not up to him.
"I hope so. That's up to independent promotions over there, but that's also on TNA management to get us over there, to Germany, to everywhere in the UK, all over Europe, and all across the globe. I plan to make this an International Championship, a true international championship, and just try to defend it anywhere I can and also bringing in talent from all over the globe to TNA as well, to get them on television, to get those names that aren't known very well, and to give them a shot. If they want a shot at this title, please step right up and cross that line," he said.
Asked if there were any immediate plans for him to head overseas, Maclin said that he is currently preoccupied with all his TNA dates but invited international stars to consider crossing the line again.
"No, nothing yet. As of now, I'm pretty much fixed with my dates here in the States and also with my dates with TNA, which trumps everything. But if something was to come up, and an opportunity was to arise, I'm glad to take that opportunity. Just like winning the tournament at Unbreakable, that was an opportunity given to me by Santino, and I beat five other men to become the inaugural TNA International Champion, and like that, it's an opportunity. So if you want an opportunity for me to come over there, you to come here, please, by all means, cross that line."
Maclin has also stated that he would like to defend the title against international talent in WWE, including Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. Learn more here.
Before he can think too far in the future, Steve Maclin must first defeat Eric Young at TNA Rebellion to successfully retain the International Championship for the first time.
