Sting Talks About The Ideas He Had Planned For A Feud Between Himself And The Undertaker

Sting was prepared.

Former six-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting has had many highly-regarded matches and feuds throughout his storied career but one story that the fans have always wanted to bear witness to was a feud and match between Sting and The Undertaker. When Sting came to WWE in 2014 the chances of the match taking place seemed more likely to happen than it was in the past. Unfortunately because of the career-ending injury that Sting suffered at the 2015 'Night Of Champions' PPV in his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins, the match or the tease of it in WWE never came to fruition.

"The Icon" Sting did cook up a few ideas for a feud between himself and "The Phenom" and Sting spoke about how he was going to push for the match with Taker if he had made it through the bout with Seth Rollins.

“It’s a dream match for sure with wrestling fans all over the world and it was a dream match for me too." Sting told Bill Apter while guest appearing on the 'Apter Chat' podcast.  "I’ve never heard Undertaker reciprocate that once so I’m not sure how he feels about it exactly but I’ve always wanted to have one match with him and then by the time I got my foot in the door with WWE and did my first WrestleMania I still had hopes that somehow or another, I could end up doing… and I wanted it to be my very last match against Undertaker - to go out like that, and I think that there probably was potential for it to happen and then I got hurt.” He continued, “I mean I was just doing one-offs with them. That’s exactly what it was, and I was making it known that I would like to have that last match with Taker, and then there was one time he had already… they’d already pretty much signed with Brock and Taker so that one was already done, and you know, we just couldn’t… for whatever reason, and I don’t really have all the reasons. I just know that it never happened obviously and I wanted it to and I think that if I could’ve made it through that last match with Seth, I was really gonna push hard to see if I could get that WrestleMania with Taker.” Sting said.

As mentioned in the earlier portion of the article, the WWE Hall Of Famer had a number of ideas running through his head about the story he could tell with The Undertaker. Sting stated that he had been brewing these ideas for years and had some material that would've left fans in awe.

"You know, I had so many ideas that developed over a couple of decades based on his character and my character and some of the ideas that I had in my head. Someday, somebody’s gonna do some pretty cool stuff like that with characters that are similar, and it all has to do with sleight of hand and special effects and holograms and awe man." Sting added: "I had some ideas that would’ve rocked everybody. It would’ve been… it would’ve matched his character and mine and I believe it would’ve left people with their jaws open and they would’ve been very, very entertained.”
