Swerve Strickland wowed the crowd, but Samoa Joe ended the night standing tall.
On the April 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland and AEW World Champion Samoa Joe separately spoke with Renee Paquette to share their thoughts ahead of their match at AEW Dynasty. Joe called Strickland a choke artist and vowed to cement his status as AEW's greatest world champion. Meanwhile, Strickland said that Joe could call him whatever he wanted, but he would have to refer to hm as the new champion after their match.
At the end of AEW Dynamite, Strickland called Samoa Joe out. Joe was held back by a security team, but Strickland took flight and dove onto them with a Swerve Stomp.
Is this what we're going to see at #AEWDynasty on Sunday?!

After a brief staredown, Strickland and Joe brawled. Joe mocked the "Nana" dance and set his sights on Prince Nana, but Strickland stopped him. They kept fighting, and Joe ultimately overpowered Swerve. He dropped the challenger with a Muscle Buster and raised the title over his head to end the show.
.@SamoaJoe gets the final word on #AEWDynamite, but will he be standing tall when #AEWDynasty ends?
