The reigning and defending NWA Women's World Champion once again delivers a performance that has her in 'match of the night' conversations. Kamille's bout against the AEW challenger, Legit Leyla Hirsch was nothing short of entertaining, hard-hitting, methodical, and spectacular! Everything you would want out of a championship match as two insanely talented women battled it out over NWA championship gold. In my opinion these two ladies killed it and were definitely one of the best matches of the night at NWA's first ever all-women's PPV event.
Overall from bottom to top the NWA Empowerrr card did very well with representing the present and future of women's wrestling in the industry going forward. They definitely followed through on their promises that NWA Empowerrr would be a 'must see event.' And to be honest, with a card that boasts Melina, Mickie James, Deonna Purrazzo, Chelsea Green, Lady Frost, Kamille Brickhouse, Leyla Hirsch, The Hex, and others, I'd expect nothing less than the absolute best. And that's exactly what they did. The entire card built up to the main event as a well-thought-out card should. All ladies seamlessly worked together to highlight not only themselves but also each other.
They told some good stories. They executed well on highlighting the diverse amount of competition, currently residing in Women's Wrestling. And they were each a part of a cohesively put together card full of old school psychology that has long been the vibe of the NWA. And that's what you had at NWA Empowerrr, which leads me to believe that we can expect much more of going forward. W women like Kamille Brickhouse and her coveted NWA Women's World Championship and of course the newly reactivated NWA Women's World Tag Team Titles won by The Hex Allysin Kay and Marti Belle, who are certainly no strangers to the NWA Women's World Champion as they've each played integral parts on the reviving of the NWA Women's Division over the last two plus years.
All in all, Kamille proved once again exactly why she's the future of NWA and it's current fighting champion. She silenced naysayers yet again and delivered one heck of a believable performance. A performance against another competitor who also brings that extra believability to such a role. Two incredibly fierce women. One bout. One championship title. Tons of athletic prowess and wrestling expertise. The more Kamille evolves and grows into her fullest potential as a superstar and NWA Women's Champion, the more you are going to be hearing her name and the w's stacking up on her record.
Kamille Brickhouse and Leyla Hirsch are two women that have such versatility in the ring that you can't help but be excited to see them perform and believe in each move they make. To say they have promising futures in the Pro Wrestling Industry would in my opinion, be an understatement. This is a topic I've discussed in length on several occasions with Fightful.com, and with every new bout I see from Leyla Hirsch and Kamille Brickhouse, I know I've been right. And here we are a year later shouting their praises as a major focal point of this historical PPV event and their championship match.
As I've previously mentioned, not just any woman can pull off the tough girl fighter type of gimmick. It takes a certain look. A certain aura or vibe. A certain dedication to the craft or discipline of choice. And a certain level of self-assurance and unwavering confidence. I feel that too many times too many women try this gimmick and fall short of the mark. Last year I wrote my thoughts in individual pieces on how I felt that Kamille Brickhouse and Leyla Hirsch were talents to watch out for as they each bring their own credibility to the role that is worthy of any T.V. spotlight. A credibility matched by only a few other women. Women such as say Rhonda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Beth Phoenix, and a few others.
So, in my mind, it's no surprise that Rhonda Rousey herself took to social media with her elation over the execution of the NWA Empowerrr PPV event. Rousey who knows a thing or two about being a certified badass. And that is in large part speaks to the tenacity and the formidable undaunted focus and passion of competitors the likes of Legit Leyla Hirsch and the NWA Women's World Champion Kamille Brickhouse. Long may she reign as the NWA Women's World Champion and watch out for The Virtuousa Deonna Purrazzo. The double champion who undoubtedly scouted Kamille Brickhouse's match against Leyla Hirsch, looking for any foreseeable sign of weakness in the NWA Women's World Champion. Only time will tell... Congratulations to Kamille Brickhouse and Leyla Hirsch for delivering a killer bout on a most auspicious night for Women's Wrestling!
