On this past episode of NXT 2.0, the WWE Universe tuned in for the second annual Halloween Havoc event under the WWE NXT umbrella, and one of the feature matches was none other than the NXT Women's Championship Title match. Not knowing exactly what to expect, the NXT 2.0 roster entered Halloween Havoc with every intent of capitalizing on any spirited opportunity that came their way before the night was over. All in the hopes of utilizing the night's theme for their own ultimate ends. And as the title of this article suggests for several NXT Stars it worked! Halloween Havoc - spine the wheel - make the deal - yes, the violence was real…
In keeping with the tradition started in 1989 by WCW, NXT 2.0's rendition of Halloween Havoc delivered and then some! Mandy Rose reinvented herself and walked into the episode ready for a fight. And fight she most certainly did. The former NXT Women's Champion Raquel Gonzalez walked into Halloween Havoc with some of the best character work and overall vibe that I've ever seen from her, which shows how hard she is constantly working in dedication to her craft. Her new gear, for me at least, was very reminiscent of an outfit I remember Victoria wearing in the early 2000's on WWE programming. And to be honest, I'm all for it! The ladies brought it and they laid it all out there for the WWE Universe. I'm incredibly proud of both ladies for the overall success of their segment.
The tie-ins with a previously ongoing storyline were great. It gives Gonzalez a reason to come back swinging hard and fast in the form of Dakota Kai and her return. Kai's interference was ingenious. It keeps Raquel's character from appearing weak while also suffering the loss. In my opinion its good booking. I'm loving how much WWE is once again reviving their propensity for infusing their brands with old school wrestling psychology but updated with a modern twist that reflects the times as opposed to being too dated. It works for their target audiences and demographics with their PG sponsors. Not to mention how cool it is to see Mandy Rose really throw herself at this opportunity to prove herself not only to naysayers but also, more importantly to herself. Simply awesome!
I'm curious to see this continuing storyline unfold on NXT 2.0 as the weeks near the end of 2021 and gear up for 2022. Both ladies are really coming into their own as WWE Superstars and I'm elated to see it for these ladies and how far they go with it. I think this particular storyline will do a lot of good for quite a few women in the NXT Women's Division. Halloween Havoc promised violence, revenge, and change. And we had violence. We had acts of revenge. And the landscape of NXT 2.0 was definitely changed! A new champion will be added to the Hall of Champions this week. She's not just a 'Golden Goddess' anymore, she's now your new golden standard supplanting Raquel Gonzalez in the pinnacle seat of the NXT 2.0 Women's Division. And with that, she is your new reigning and defending NXT Women's Champion, Toxic Attraction's, Mandy Rose!
