Earlier this week Gail Kim took to Twitter with an impeccable announcement that I think will make an irrevocable difference for Mental health Awareness. Now, while I often say that its great to be aware of things but we need to act because being aware isn't enough, I do acknowledge and feel that this is a huge step in the right direction for the industry setting an example. This industry has been plagued by bad press, higher suicide rates, poor quality of life for a vast majority after wrestling, and of course lower life expectancies due to the damage the business causes to the body both mentally and physically. So seeing the recent launch of the 'Tag Me In' campaign is a much needed breath of fresh air. A great show of solidarity and progression. Thank you for that!
Joining Gail Kim in the Tag Me In campaign are Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, Pro Wrestling Tees, and most recently IMPACT Wrestling. According to Gail Kim, Pro Wrestling Tees has already raised over $4,000 dollars for the for NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness.) And now IMPACt Wrestling pledges to match all proceeds from the final week of sales. Kim reported that the sale officially ends on October 31st so until then you can help make a difference with every purchase and the last week will be matched by IMPACT Wrestling.
Gail Kim further elaborated that while the sale ends on October 31st, the Tag Me In campaign remains in place and continue on. 'Tag Me In' aims to show that we are not alone. That more people need to normalize conversations like this. From everything I have read thus far, I cannot help but feel absolutely proud of Gail Kim and the Tag Me In campaign. As I always say the mission behind my podcast Talks with Taeler Hendrix is to get people in on tough conversations so that we can all be a part of someone else's survival guide someday. And this. This right here, the Tag Me In campaign is indicative of this very ideal that we are not alone and we can learn from each other. We matter. Your dreams matter. Your feelings are valid. You matter! In complete earnestness, from the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you. Thank you to Gail Kim. And thank you to everyone involved in the Tag Me In campaign. Small acts of kindness really do add up to great things… Remember, from now until the end of business hours on October 31st, IMPACT Wrestling will match all proceeds. Tag Me In!
