Two titles matches are set for NJPW's Anniversary Event.
NJPW announced that Taiji Ishimori will make the second defense of his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title against Jushin Thunder Liger on Mar. 6 at the NJPW 47th Anniversary Show. The bout was set up this past Monday at The New Beginning in Osaka following Ishimori's successful title defense against Ryusuke Taguchi when Ishimori called out Liger, who was at the commentary booth. The 54-year-old legend accepted the challenge of Ishimori and will look to become a 12-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
Also added the Anniversary Event is a IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title match between the champions, BUSHI & Shingo Takagi and challengers Roppongi 3K. This bout was also set up at The New Beginning in Osaka with Roppongi 3K attacking the Los Ingobernables de Japon duo following a six-man tag team match.
The duo of SHO and YOH won the Super Junior Tag League back in November, defeating BUSHI & Shingo and Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado in a triple threat finals. Instead of receiving a two-on-two bout for the titles, they had to compete in another triple threat tag team bout for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Titles at Wrestle Kingdom 13 with The Young Bucks added to their match against BUSHI & Shingo.
The NJPW 47th Anniversary Event is scheduled for Mar. 6 at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo. No other matches have been announced.
