Taya Valkyrie wants to face Mercedes Mone.
Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17. She attacked IWGP Women's Champion KAIRI and challenged her to a match, which has been confirmed for NJPW Battle in the Valley. Valkyrie, who currently competes for IMPACT, NWA, AAA, MLW, and other promotions, has her sights set on a showdown with The CEO.
Speaking on the Comedy Store Wrestling podcast, Valkyrie was asked to name a dream opponent, and she brought up Mercedes Mone. She noted that Mone respects lucha libre, something that is very important to her. She then called Mone out and seemingly challenged her to a potential match.
"Well I’m gonna say her and she’s now out in the world and free to play. She has a huge respect for Lucha libre, which for me is very important and something that I hold dear and close to my heart. So why not Mercedes Mone? Mercedes, you know where to find me," Valkyrie said.
Later in the interview, Mone's NJPW debut came up in the conversation, and Valkyrie praised the way she looked. She commended the former WWE star for the way she commanded the stage, even of the crowd's response was somewhat lacking.
"I just wanna talk about her entire look because she came out looking like money. She looked great. Even though that crowd was being not as loud as people expected, just because that’s just how it is, I think that she just commanded that stage and walked that runway and killed it," Valkyrie said.
