Tegan Nox (Nixon Newell) Says Becky Lynch Fought 'Tooth And Nail' For Their WWE Raw Match

Nixon Newell, formerly known as Tegan Nox, wishes she could have run it back with Becky Lynch.

Lynch faced several WWE stars who weren't often featured on WWE Raw during her run as the NXT Women's Championship. Among others, she faced Nox on the October 9th, 2023, episode of WWE Raw. The match was delayed after Lynch initially wasn't cleared to compete. Lynch ultimately beat Nox to retain the title.

In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Newell shared her thoughts on the match and explained why she felt that she could have done better.

"I think it could have gone a lot better on my end. That wasn’t my best performance, and I know it wasn’t. I was so incredibly nervous. I think that’s one of the few times that my nerves got the better than me in a match. So, I would have loved to have been able to run that back," Newell said.

After expressing her gratitude for the opportunity, Newell noted that she learned a lot from Lynch, and she spoke highly of her. Newell said that Lynch wanted to work with her, and that meant a lot to her. She also recalled how the match was a chance to showcase her talent.

"She’s such a nice person, she asked for all the people that she wanted to work with, which is wild, for her to even go, 'I want to work with Nixon.' I think even though it wasn’t my best performance, it made people go, 'Oh, she can actually wrestle.' I’m like, 'Yes, and I can do better than that, if you give me the chance," Newell said.

Newell also noted that Lynch and Bayley both pitched their opponents at the time, and she admitted that she could have done more with the opportunity. She stated that Lynch "fought tooth and nail" to make the match happen, and while it didn't seem like there were plans for her beyond that, she still appreciated the chance to face her.

"Unfortunately, I never got the chance to show that. But that entire situation with Becky was just mind-blowing, and something that I will hold very dear to me, not just the rest of my career, but for the rest of my life. I think it was a case of Becky wanted to work with me, so I did. I was hoping it would go somewhere. I was hoping people would go, “Oh, she can actually wrestle. Like, let’s give her something. But there’s so many people in that company that it’s hard to get on your feet and running unless something insane happens. I just don’t think it was my time," Newell said.

In November 2024, Newell left WWE, and she recently entered free agency.

Newell recently said that she was "incredibly sick" in 2024. Check out her comments here.

Newell is set to compete at an ATTACK! Wrestling event. More information is available here.
