Tetsuya Naito Discharged From Hospital After Eye Surgery, Says He Wants To Return As Soon As Possible

Tetsuya Naito provides an update.

Tetsuya Naito previously announced that he was set to have surgery on his right eye on November 7. This marked his third surgery on the upper oblique muscle paralysis in his right eye. Naito has been dealing with the issue since 2019, and the November 7 surgery would be the last time Naito could undergo the procedure, according to his doctor's advice.

Speaking with Tokyo Sports (via DeepL), Naito provided an update after he had been discharged from the hospital.

"I've removed the eye patch now, and it looks normal. I had gotten used to the situation where the position of the eyeball in my right eye had shifted a little, so it's not like (the symptoms) will get better instantly. With time, I will get used to this situation, so I think it will get better," Naito said.

Naito also stated that he will rest for two weeks after the surgery. However, he made it clear that he does not want to miss too much time. The 2023 G1 Climax winner emphasized that he would like to get back in action as soon as possible.

"I don't want to take too much time off, and it's sad and frustrating not to have my name on the card. I would like to return to competition as soon as possible," Naito said.

As of this writing, there is no word on when Tetsuya Naito will return to the ring. Fightful will provide more information as it becomes available.

At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4, Naito is set to challenge SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
