Tom Phillips Let Go By WWE

After nearly ten years on camera, Tom Phillips has been released by WWE. Fightful has learned.

While not announced officially that Tom Phillips has been let go, he's the latest in a string of releases affecting backstage personnel and even WWE Studios. We've reached out to WWE for confirmation but have yet to hear back. We aren't sure of the specific arrangement in place for his departure from WWE.

Tom Phillips got his start on the WWE app back in 2012 where he would conduct interviews during Monday Night Raw back when the WWE app, which later became the WWE Network app, first launched.

Tom Phillips is also one of few WWE broadcasters that has the distinction of being able to say that he has been on commentary for every television show that WWE currently produces, from Raw, Smackdown, NXT., NXT UK, Main Event and even discontinued shows such as Superstars.

Most recently, Tom Phillips was the lead play-by-play announcer on Monday Night Raw, a position he held from January 26, 2020 when he replaced Vic Joseph, until April 12th, 2021 when he was replaced by Adnan Virk. Virk agreed to mutually part ways with WWE on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, not two months after he started with the company.

Recently, Tom changed his social media handles to reflect his real name, Tom Hannifan and his bio listed him as a WWE broadcaster and producer.

Jimmy Smith, former UFC and Bellator broadcaster, has joined the WWE Raw booth alongside Byron Saxton and Corey Graves.
