Tony Khan is open to Bryan Danielson competing in the G1 Climax Tournament but understands that Bryan Danielson may be his AEW World Champion after March 5 at AEW Revolution.
In 2021, it was reported that WWE reached out to New Japan Pro-Wrestling to establish a working relationship centered around Bryan Danielson, then known as Daniel Bryan, potentially wrestling for NJPW. Now, Danielson works for AEW, and AEW has a pre-existing relationship with NJPW. Thus far, Danielson has yet to wrestle for New Japan since leaving WWE.
Tony Khan recently appeared on the In The Kliq podcast and was asked about Bryan Danielson potentially competing in the G1 Climax Tournament. While Tony Khan thinks it would be a fun idea, his focus is on Bryan Danielson potentially becoming AEW World Champion when he wrestles Maxwell Jacob Friedman in a 60-Minute Iron Man Match on March 5 at AEW Revolution.
"To be honest. I think it would be great in many ways, but Bryan Danielson, it's quite possible, could be AEW World Champion. Either way, I mean, I think it'd be hard for him to disappear from the show, especially as the AEW World Champion. I'm not sure he'll be able to get away from the show that much. We'll have to see what happens here coming out of Revolution with MJF vs. Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship in the 60-Minute Iron Man Match in San Francisco on March 5," said Tony.
Recently, Tony Khan cited WWE reaching out to NJPW in 2021 as evidence that WWE and AEW "truly" hate each other. Fans can read Tony's comments here.
