Tony Khan: I Always Wanted To Get CM Punk Back In The Ring

CM Punk will officially return to the ring on the premiere episode of AEW Collision when he teams with FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to face Samoa Joe & Bullet Club Gold (Jay White & Juice Robinson).

It will mark his first match since AEW All Out 2022, when he won the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley, but suffered a torn triceps. He was subsequently suspended from AEW due his post-show comments and his role in an altercation with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson).

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, AEW President Tony Khan was asked if there was ever any doubt about Punk's return.

Tony initially said that he would let Punk give an answer on AEW Collision, but did add, "For me, I always wanted to get CM Punk back in the ring and I'm really excited that it's finally happening tomorrow night. I always wanted to make that happen and I'm glad it's happening."

Earlier in the interview, host Dave LeGreca said Punk's return was a great thing for AEW.

Tony commented, "I think so too. It's going to be really great to have CM Punk back in Chicago and back in AEW. He's a huge star and it's going to be a really exciting night for the fans. We're trying to build a tradition on Saturday night and bring Saturday night wrestling back. I think CM Punk will be a huge part of that."

Punk broke his silence on AEW All Out 2022 ad the fallout from the event, revealing he apologized to Tony Khan and has tried to reach out to The Elite. You can find Punk's comments by clicking here.
