Tony Khan makes no bones about where Jon Moxley fits on AEW's pecking order.

CMLL Viernes Espectacular (11/22/2024) Results: Leyenda Azul Eliminator, Volador Jr, Templario, More

Jon Moxley wasn't one of the first names signed to AEW in 2019 as he was still with WWE performing as Dean Ambrose. However, Jon Moxley made his debut at the 2019 AEW Double or Nothing event, coming out at the end of the show as one of the first major surprises in AEW's history.

Since then, Moxley has become the first and only man to hold the AEW World Title on four separate occasions, headlined many AEW pay-per-view events, and continues to be one of the top performers in all of professional wrestling. Tony Khan, speaking to CHGO Sports, went so far as to say that Jon Moxley is the greatest star ever to perform in AEW.

“Jon Moxley is AEW’s greatest star ever. Jon Moxley’s the four-time world champion. At the beginning of the launch of AEW, we ended our first-ever show with Jon Moxley standing atop the poker chips at Double or Nothing, and it’s been that way since. He’s a four-time champion, he’s a force in AEW, and I really think that this match [against Orange Cassidy] is gonna be an awesome, awesome world title fight."

Jon Moxley recently expressed that he believes AEW absolutely must succeed so that the wrestling industry as a whole isn't forced to regress. Read his comments here.
