Trick Williams On Parting Ways With Carmelo Hayes: No More Batman and Robin, I'm Batman Too

Trick Williams says he's not a Robin.

Williams has been on NXT TV since September 2021. For the duration of his time in NXT, Williams had been featured as Carmelo Hayes' hype man and tag team partner. On the August 1 episode of WWE NXT, Williams told the NXT Champion that he wasn't a sidekick, and they amicably parted ways. Since then, Williams has been carving out his path as a singles star.

Speaking with Steve Fall for Ten Count Media, Co, Williams was asked about his decision to part ways with Hayes.

"Yeah, I’m my own man. Carmelo’s his own man, and I’m happy. I’m excited more than ever because I get to show what I can do. No more Batman [and] Robin. I’m Batman, too. It’s a great feeling," Williams said.

When asked whether he felt like he was Robin to Hayes' Batman, Williams explained that he's not a Robin, but he had been supporting Hayes up. He made it clear that he grew throughout his time at Hayes' side, but now he's ready to reach his full potential.

“Not because I am a Robin, but because up to this point, I’ve been uplifting my brother. He brought me into the business, like, ‘Hey, it’s Trick/Melo now.’ That’s what he did. He brought me into the business. While I learned, I got better, I watched him. Now, I’m ready to take on and reach my full potential as well," Williams said.

On the August 22 episode of WWE NXT, Williams will face Ilja Dragunov. Check out the card here. Fightful will have live coverage of the show as it airs.

NXT commentator Booker T recently stated that he thinks the show can get up to a million views. Click here to see what he had to say.
