Triple H addresses Roman Reigns not going to be at WrestleMania this year.
Last week, reports surfaced that Reigns will not be wrestling at this year's show with the former Universal Champion confirming as such in a video posted on social media. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Triple H says the storyline between Reigns and Goldberg that was supposed to culminate at WrestleMania is going to play out in a unique manner and implores people to watch the show to see what happens next. With the current situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak, Triple H added that WWE is doing its best to handle the situation and "out smiles on people's faces."
"It's a funny thing. I think you can watch our business in multiple, different ways and one of them is the storyline aspect. Another way is the online component and the reality behind it. Roman has his situation and his reasons for doing the things that he is doing. But I will say from our standpoint and from a storyline standpoint, it's going to play out in a unique manner and we want it to play out that way. It's not necessarily putting me out in an awkward position. For me, it's saying, 'I don't want to give away the ending of the movie before the movie takes place.' So I think everyone just has to watch and see how this unfolds but it will unfold in a unique way and it will be meaningful for everybody. There will always be critics and we're doing the best we can. It's our company mission to put smiles on people's faces and that's what we're trying to do at this time. It might not be the perfect product out there but it is our product so it's done with the best of intent," Triple H said.
Reigns was supposed to face Goldberg for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36, taking place on April 4 and 5 at the WWE Performance Center, but WWE is still advertising Goldberg vs. Reigns. Goldberg is still planning on wrestling at the show, with an opponent reportedly in place. Click here to find out who is reportedly replacing Reigns in the match.
