Triple H feels that Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns are best kept on separate brands for now because the next time that they square off, it could be a match of legendary proportions.
WWE is currently in the middle of its 2020 draft and the first two picks of this year's draft saw the incumbent WWE World Heavyweight and Universal Champions stay on their respective brands and there is no chance of them crossing each other, outside of Survivor Series, for another year.
Speaking on the WWE Raw panel at New York Comic Con, Triple H, a veteran of many WWE brand extensions spoke about the exciting matchups the WWE Draft can create and said that Drew McIntyre versus Roman Reigns should be saved for a very special occasion.
“The draft is always an exciting time because it creates these -- I think in some ways the fantasy moments. Like, I'll be honest I don't want to see Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns yet. I would love to see that percolate because I think that a couple of years down the road Roman Reigns versus Drew McIntyre is a Hulk Hogan/Ric Flair scenario, is a Rock/‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin scenario, and you don't want to hit that before it peaks. That's what makes the draft so exciting to me is those moments in time where you were like, ‘well, what if?’ and then ‘what if’ becomes a reality.”
Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns have feuded in the past, including a match at WrestleMania 35 where Roman Reigns picked up the win. However, that was their one and only televised singles match that ended with a clean win and both men have gone through such a metamorphosis in the past year-and-a-half that by the time they crossed paths once more, it will be a completely new battle.
