Triple H: We Have To Call Audibles Every Week, Everything Is Dependent On Reactions

Triple H comments on plans changing with The Rock and WrestleMania 40.

After WWE Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes seemingly stepped aside to allow The Rock to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. A vocal portion of the crowd rejected the idea and "We Want Cody" became a trending topic.

Less than a week after The Rock confronted Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes inserted himself back into the title picture, saying at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff that he won the Rumble and he would be challenging Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Speaking to ESPN, Triple H discussed the change in direction.

"Now it's a different time, and the way I do things is slightly different," Triple H said. "My career, I learned from being here, but there were things along the way that I always thought I would do differently. In this time now, I get to make those calls and with a large team of people. Whether people will want to believe it or not, I think we were sort of looking at this as here's where we're going to go to get this started and it has the opportunity of going this way or that way.

"We always have to call audibles every single week. Everything you do is dependent on reactions. That's what we do as an industry. ... The beautiful thing with this group and with Cody and Roman and Rock especially, everybody's got their ear to the ground. ... And then we all just get together and figure the s--- out."

On television, Triple H made the decision to go with Rhodes vs. Reigns in the WrestleMania 40 main event. That match will take place on night two.

On night one, The Rock will team with Roman Reigns to take on Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes.
