Two Title Changes On This Week's Impact

Impact: Crossroads saw two major title changes on their program this week, and likely the beginning of the end of at least one star performer.

Allie started her second reign with the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion when she defeated Champion Laurel Van Ness on Thursday's episode of Impact. The title switch actually took place back in January at the television tapings, but didn't air until this week. It's widely known that Laurel Van Ness had asked for her release in late 2017 and stuck around through the January set of shows in order to drop the belt. After losing to Allie, she also put over Kiera Hogan and Alisha Edwards on her way out.

As reported in the Fightful Wrestling Weekly earlier this year, WWE has long been interested in Van Ness, real name Chelsea Green.

Elsewhere on the show, WWE, Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling veteran Matt Sydal defeated Taiji Ishimori to win his first ever Impact X-Division Championship. Sydal, who also holds the Impact Grand Championship, is now a double champion in the promotion, even though Impact's Don Callis has publicly stated that he doesn't like the idea of the Grand Championship.
