Typhoon Hagibis has run rampant across Japan, causing tons of damage and other catastrophes in its path.
One event that was affected by the typhoon was the NJPW King Of Pro Wrestling 2019 card, as both Jon Moxley and Zack Sabre Jr. misses the card due to travel issues that were caused by the typhoon.
NJPW issued the following statements on the situation:
"Due to travel delays as a result of this weekend’s Typhoon Hagibis, we regret to announce that Jon Moxley will be unable to appear at Ryogoku Sumo Hall for King of Pro Wrestling on Monday October 14. As Moxley is unable to wrestle in a scheduled championship defence, he has relinquished the IWGP United States Championship. In place of the scheduled Jon Moxley versus Juice Robinson No Disqualification match tonight for the United States Championship, a match will be contested for the now vacant title."
“Further to the prior announcement that Jon Moxley will not be able to wrestle his scheduled championship match at King of Pro Wrestling, we regret to announce that Zack Sabre Junior will also be unable to compete due to travel delays resulting from the effects of Typhoon Hagibis. We apologize to fans who were looking forward to seeing Sabre wrestle, and appreciate your understanding.”
Moxley would be stripped of the IWGP United States Title due to missing the event, which would be won by Lance Archer, who defeated Juice Robinson in a No DQ Match.
Highlights from the live coverage presented by Fightful of that match can be seen below:
Robinson waits for Archer to get up before attacking him with some jabs, Robinson then drills Archer with the Left Hand Of God. Robinson follows that up by using a cannonball to put Archer through a table for a near fall, Robinson looks for Pulp Friction and Archer blocks it to pounce Robinson through a table. Archer leaves the ring and Robinson does as well, Robinson and Archer throw a bunch of chairs in the ring. They get back into the ring and Archer punches a chair into the face of Robinson, Archer looks for a choke slam and Robinson escapes to land a Juice Box for a near fall. Robinson grabs a bunch of chairs and he stacks them in the middle of the ring, Archer recovers and he nails Robinson with a full nelson slam onto the chairs. Archer grabs Robinson and he places him on the top rope, Archer nails Robinson with a Blackout onto the chairs for a near fall. Archer grabs the head of Robinson before smashing it into the chairs multiple times, Archer applies the EVD Claw and he gets the three count.
Winner: Lance Archer, your new IWGP United States Champion
The next events for NJPW are the Super Junior Tag League shows, which have not been affected by the typhoon at this time.
