Undertaker and Snoop Dogg are collaborating for a new merch line because 2020.
Yes, Undertaker is set for his final farewell at Survivor Series 2020 and now that he doesn't have to adhere to kayfabe as much, we have seen much more of Mark Calaway, the person behind the character.
Over the course of the last year, Undertaker has been referred to by his real name in the build-up to his WrestleMania match with AJ Styles, he's become much more active on social media, expressed his love for Nando's Chicken, appeared on Hot Ones, and had a whole documentary series on WWE Network where he goes fully in-depth behind the scenes of the last three years of his career. The Undertaker has truly adapted to the modern world and while some may not know how to feel about that, Snoop Dogg sure does.
Snoop Dogg, who has refereed matches at WrestleMania, is in the WWE Hall of Fame, and is totally best friends with Martha Stewart, will be appearing on a special line of merchandise releasing exclusively on WWE Shop on Friday, November 20, at 2 p.m. eastern. The line includes T-shirts, a hoodie, beanie, and posters fusing the worlds of each icon with graphics like vintage rap t-shirt-inspired collages and hearse low riders. Snoop Dogg is also celebrating an anniversary, his debut album Doggystyle released 27 years ago on November 23, 1993.
Speaking with Complex, who exclusively broke the news of the merchandise line, Snoop Dogg was very complimentary of WWE's “Phenom.”
"Undertaker. 30 Years. Boss Dogg. 27 years. Godfather to Doggfather—I have an enormous amount of respect for such an icon in the sports and entertainment industry. Our career paths are similar in longevity and the respect we have from our peers," says Snoop Dogg. "It’s only right we team up for this collaboration to celebrate both of our reigns as the Original Deadman and the Original Gangsta."
Undertaker also spoke about the merch drop and was just as eager as Snoop Dogg to celebrate their legacies.
“Obviously, Snoop is such an iconic figure in pop culture. And then obviously, the Undertaker has been around a little while himself and plays a role in pop culture. So, to the date, this Sunday, Nov. 22, marks my 30th year with WWE and then Monday, Nov. 23, will be the 27th anniversary of Snoop Dogg's groundbreaking album at the time, Doggystyle. As crazy as it sounds, it makes a lot of sense that two figures so relevant in pop culture have these anniversaries coinciding with each other. I couldn't be more happy to be doing this with Snoop. Obviously, everybody knows, everything Snoop does turns to gold anyway, and then half of that turns platinum. So, I think it's really cool, and just adds another layer to each of our legacies in the entertainment world.”
WWE has done similar crossover merchandise with NXT releasing exclusive shirts for the band Code Orange and the viral sensation, Poppy.
Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Survivor Series beginning this Sunday, November 22, 2020, at 5 p.m. eastern.
