For 83 weeks in the mid-90s, WCW Nitro defeated WWE Raw in the Monday Night Wars. Business and morale was at an all-time low for WWE at the time, and even The Undertaker was questioning the direction of things.
Though Undertaker would not jump to WCW out of loyalty to Vince McMahon, he did think about trying his hand in MMA
"Honestly, this is what a lot of people don't know. UFC is coming up big at this point. They're growing. If I had an amateur wrestling background. There is a good chance I would have tested those waters. I felt like I would have been able to get my stand up on point. I have no idea, I might get my ass smashed. At this time, you have to understand the immense pressure that I'm under. I have a family. If I had an amateur background, a base, something to base my whole thing off of, I probably would have tested those waters," Undertaker said on Busted Open Radio.
Undertaker ended up sticking out with WWE, and business turned around in 1998.
Undertaker has made his love of MMA and UFC well known over the years, incorporating MMA moves into his matches and attending events.
