Undertaker wishes he could have wrestled Stone Cold Steve Austin at a WrestleMania event.
Undertaker's career was once synonymous with WrestleMania. He is one of the only WWE Superstars to have taken part in WrestleMania across four decades. However, with massive victories over the likes of Shawn Michaels, Jake Robers, John Cena, Randy Orton, Kevin Nash, Ric Flair, Triple H, and more over the course of his WrestleMania career, Undertaker is now saying that he wishes Stone Cold Steve Austin could have been part of the list of his WrestleMania opponents.
During an April 2024 Patreon Q&A session, Undertaker even suggested that had they ever wrestled at WrestleMania, Austin may have broken Undertaker's WrestleMania streak long before it could ever reach the fabled heights that it did.
"It'd have to be Stone Cold. That's really one of the only guys I didn't get to work with at Mania. That would have been huge. The streak may have gotten broken earlier, but still, it would have been nice to work with Steve at Mania," he said.
Asked whether or not people would be as mad about Stone Cold Steve Austin breaking the streak as they were when Brock Lesnar did it in 2014, Undertaker suggested there's a good chance that, like anything, there could have been a 50/50 split, but feels that Stone Cold was over like nobody else in history.
"Steve was over at a level... That was just a whole nother level that he was over at. It would probably be, just like anything else, half the people would love it, half the people would hate it. That's how it is. Everybody has an opinion but that's the guy that I would have liked to work with at Mania that I never got a chance to."
Undertaker and Stone Cold feuded had several points in 1998, 1999, and 2002 respectively. Stone Cold also received his first pay-per-view match for the WWE Championship against Undertaker at WWE In Your House: Cold Day in Hell. So, while they never tangled at WrestleMania, Steve Austin and The Undertaker had their fair share of headline matches.
The Undertaker recently got the opportunity to Chokeslam The Rock in the main event of WrestleMania XL. Fans can read his thoughts on that here.
