At the height of the Nexus, Wade Barrett led a group of NXT season one rookies against main roster WWE talent including John Cena.
The Nexus (Barrett, David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Darren Young, Skip Sheffield and Michael Tarver) battled Team WWE (Cena, John Morrison, R-Truth, Bret Hart, Edge, Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan) at WWE SummerSlam 2010 with the original reported plans calling for Barrett to win the match.
According to Heath Slater, the finish was changed just before the bout, with Team WWE winning. By the end of 2010, Cena had literally buried Barrett under steel chairs, and the group was under new management to start 2011.
On Monday's WWE Raw, in a promo battle with Cody Rhodes, Cena addressed his reputation for burying talent, saying he didn't bury talent, he buried mediocrity.
Barrett, who is now an announcer in WWE and was on commentary for WWE Raw, reacted.
