Will Ospreay To Challenge Swerve Strickland For AEW World Title At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024

In an absolutely wild Casino Gauntlet Match that occurred on the May 29 AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay won the right to challenge for the AEW World Title against Swerve Strickland at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

The actual Casino Gauntlet featured wrestlers from AEW, NJPW, and CMLL as Ospreay defeated Mistico, Jay White, PAC, Shota Umino, Lio Rush, Orange Cassidy, and Hechicero to earn his opportunity. He ended up getting the opportunity by pinning Cassidy after hitting an Os Cutter on the man who had been attacked earlier in the night by Trent Beretta, who had joined Ospreay as part of the Don Callis Family earlier that nightt.

After the match, Strickland wasted no time confronting his next challenger as the two stared down one another before the show went off the air.

Ospreay is also the newly crowned AEW International Champion. He will defend the gold against Kyle O'Reilly on the June 1 AEW Saturday Collision. Learn more about that match here.
