Will Ospreay speaks highly of Kenny Omega.
At different points, Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega have been one of the top stars in NJPW. They feuded for years as they took shots at each other, and they clashed in a dream match at Wrestle Kingdom 17. There, Omega scored the win. Ospreay and Omega faced each other again at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023, and Ospreay emerged victorious.
Speaking with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes Magazine about Omega and what he means to AEW behind the scenes
“I think he represents the identity of what AEW initially was. He didn’t need the machine to make himself a big superstar, he made himself a star along with The Bucks, along with Hangman, and everyone else that helped to set up the company. There was an identity about AEW that was different to what American TV was accustomed to. Those guys really set the bar for what wrestling could look like. It could have a different image and it could have a different identity. Especially when it comes to TV-style wrestling. Those guys completely shifted what it looked like to be TV wrestlers. He’s one of the best and I give him all the flowers in the world, but that doesn’t mean I like him [laughs]. Other than that, he’s a pr—k," Ospreay said.
Omega has been sidelined since December 2023 due to diverticulitis. There is no word on when he will return to the ring.
Jeff Jarrett recently praised Ospreay. Check out his comments here.
