- Drake Maverick struck a deal with Vince McMahon that if he could get Rezar of A.O.P. and Scott Dawson of The Revival to team up and defeat the RAW Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode and Chad Gable then AOP and The Revival would be in line for a championship opportunity. - The full Royal Rumble kickoff show can be watched below. The show includes Scott Dawson and Rezar versus Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, Shinsuke Nakamura versus Rusev, and Buddy Murphy defending his WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Akira Tozawa, Hideo Itami and Kalisto.
- The camera went black during Asuka and Becky Lynch's SmackDown Women's Title match because Becky had a wardrobe malfunction. Asuka commented on the toughness of Becky during the post-match interviews.

- Lana was "injured" during the kickoff show when she was knocked off the apron during the United States Championship match. She could not compete in the Women's Royal Rumble and filling in for her was "The Man" and eventual winner of the match Becky Lynch.
- Erick Rowan made his return to WWE TV and aided Daniel Bryan in retaining the WWE Championship and following the match Bryan let his mind flow on the WWE Universe:
