Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight's special edition of WWE NXT with night one of Takeover: Stand & Deliver!
Pre-Show
- We open tonight's pre-show with a breakdown for tonight's main show before we see various competitors entering the arena earlier today, including, but not limited to NXT Women's champion Io Shirai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Dakota Kai.
- We get an extended video package for the NXT UK Championship Match between the champion WALTER and the challenger Tommaso Ciampa before we get a sit-down interview between Ciampa and Samoa Joe. We then see Tommaso talking to Timothy Thatcher earlier today before we get a tale of the tape for the match before we get an interview with NXT UK champion WALTER.
- We get a backstage interview with LA Knight who will enter last in the Gauntlet Eliminator later tonight with the winner facing Johnny Gargano for his NXT North American Championship tomorrow night.
- We get a video package for Pete Dunne versus KUSHIDA.
Toni Storm vs Zoey Stark
The two exchange standing switches before exchanging headlocks and Zoey rocks Toni with a forearm and hits an uppercut in the corner before Toni rips her down. Toni wrenches the head of Zoey before slamming her head into the mat by her hair and stomping her in the corner before hitting a float over suplex. Toni rocks Zoey with uppercuts before Zoey comes back with chops and stomps in the corner before Toni takes her down and slams her before going up top. Zoey catches Toni up top with an enzuigiri before hitting a superplex and the two exchange strikes until Zoey hits a snap dragon into a sliding knee for a near fall. Zoey and Toni then exchange near falls before Zoey counters Storm Zero into an inside cradle for the pin and the win.
Winner: Zoey Stark defeats Toni Storm via pinfall.
- We get an extended video package for the NXT Women's Championship match between the champion Io Shirai and the challenger Raquel Gonzalez. We then get a sit-down interview with Raquel before we get one with Io.
Main Show
- We open tonight's event with a guitar solo of the national anthem.
Pete Dunne vs KUSHIDA
Pete and KUSHIDA start things off by grappling when KUSHIDA pulls guard before Pete suplexes KUSHIDA onto the edge of the apron and snaps his arm in the ropes. Pete puts KUSHIDA in a bow and arrow before KUSHIDA hits a cartwheel dropkick and they end up on the ramp where KUSHIDA hits a hand spring back elbow. KUSHIDA hits a PK to the arm of Pete before they get back into the ring and Pete locks in a standing double wrist lock before KUSHIDA hits a Pele kick. KUSHIDA counters The Bitter End into a DDT for two before stretching Pete and stomping his spine and the back of his head before Pete stomps the side of his head. Pete drops KUSHIDA with a stiff forearm before KUSHIDA comes back with a suplex into an armbar before Pete suplexes KUSHIDA.
They exchange strikes until they collapse before KUSHIDA knocks Pete off of the top and hits a flying Hoverboard Lock before Pete gets to the ropes for the break. KUSHIDA then repeatedly locks in the Hoverboard Lock, but Pete always gets his foot on the rope before Pete snaps his fingers and stomps them before hitting The Bitter End for the pin and the win.
Winner: Pete Dunne defeats KUSHIDA via pinfall.
NXT North American Championship Number One Contender Gauntlet Eliminator Match
Cameron Grimes vs Dexter Lumis vs LA Knight vs Isaiah Scott vs Leon Ruff vs Bronson Reed
Leon Ruff and Isaiah Scott start the match off before Scott attacks Ruff when he's coming out to the ring before they brawl on the ramp and at ringside before Leon tosses Isaiah into the ring and hits a missile dropkick. Once the match starts Leon sends Isaiah over the top rope and down onto the floor before Isaiah catches him when he goes for a suicide dive. Isaiah suplexes Leon onto the barricade before hitting a running kick with Leon draped over the top of the barricade before slingshoting him into the ropes. Leon hits a frankensteiner before the clock counts down and Bronson enters the match at number three before taking out both Isaiah and Leon single handedly. Reed hits a double German suplex before the clock ticks down and Cameron enters fourth before Cameron and Isaiah work together and take out Reed.
Isaiah and Cameron double team Leon before the clock ticks down yet again and Dexter Lumis is next to enter the match. Dexter takes out Bronson on the ramp with a DDT before taking out Isaiah and Cameron with rebound suplexes before Reed gets back in and the two face off. Everyone end up at ringside before the clock counts down and LA Knight enters last at number five before coming out and cutting a promo on everyone in the match. Reed grabs LA and tosses him over the top rope into the ring before hitting a Samoan drop to LA and whipping Cameron over the top rope and out of the ring. LA comes back with a neckbreaker to Reed into a superplex to Isaiah before Dexter sends Cameron into LA and locks in The Silence on Cameron before LA pins Dexter with a jack knife cover. Reed eliminates LA before Dexter chokes LA unconscious at ringside before Reed, Scott, and Grimes exchange strikes until they collapse before Isaiah eliminates Cameron while holding the tights.
Isaiah slams Reed off of the top and down onto the edge of the apron before hitting a 450 once they're back in the ring for a near fall before hitting several House Calls for a near fall. Reed then slaps Scott and hits a powerbomb into a reverse piledriver and the Tsunami Splash for the pin and the win.
Winner: Bronson Reed wins by being the last person in the match after everyone else has been eliminated to earn a shot at Johnny Gargano's North American title.
NXT UK Championship Match
WALTER (c) vs Tommaso Ciampa
They lock up before WALTER backs Tommaso into the corner before Tommaso escapes a knife edge chop and Tommaso tries to use his speed before dropping WALTER with a flurry. WALTER drops Tommaso with a single chop before draping Tommaso over the top rope and stomping him off and down onto the floor before they exchange at ringside. WALTER accidentally chops through the top of the announce table before Tommaso chops him and WALTER drops Tommaso back first across the apron. Back inside WALTER counters Willows Bell and drops him with a boot before driving his boot into the throat of Ciampa and sending him through the ropes. WALTER suplexes Ciampa back into the ring before they exchange strikes until Tommaso drops WALTER with at least twenty lariat before WALTER drops him with a single chop.
Tommaso drives WALTER down with an air raid crash for two before WALTER counters the Fairytale Ending into a northern lights suplex for two before Tommaso hits the Fairytale Ending for a deep two count. Tommaso hits a running knee before WALTER locks in a sleeper and Tommaso gets to the ropes before WALTER hits a German into a lariat for a near fall. Tommaso counters a powerbomb and bites his fingers before WALTER kicks his spine and Tommaso takes him down before locking in a Fujiwara. WALTER gets to the bottom rope for the break before Tommaso stomps him and beats on him before WALTER rolls underneath the bottom rope and dodges Willows Bell. WALTER hits Ciampa with clubbing blows in the ropes before dropping him with a headbutt and Tommaso hits an avalanche air raid crash off of the top for a near fall.
The two then exchange before WALTER twists the neck of Tommaso and hits a pair of powerbombs for a near fall before hitting a sleeper German into a running chop for the pin and the win.
Winner: WALTER retains his NXT UK title by defeating Tommaso Ciampa via pinfall.
- We get a graphic for Franky Monet who will be debuting next Tuesday on NXT at its new time.
- Backstage Bronson is interviewed about winning the gauntlet before Johnny shows up and tells him he better be ready to go long tomorrow night and that he's ready for Reed.
NXT Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match
MSK vs Grizzled Young Veterans vs Legado Del Fantasma
LDF double up on both members of MSK one at a time before Zack comes in and is double teamed by MSK before Raul attacks Zack from behind and knocks Wilde off of the apron. GYV take out Wes and clear the ring before Nash drops Zack and James clotheslines him for two before grounding the high flyer Nash with a rear chin lock. Wes gets the hot tag before LDF hit him with a double coast to coast dropkick for a deep two that Zack breaks up before they beat Zack down and clear the ring. Nash gets the hot tag to Wes who clears the ring and takes out GYV and LDF before MSK hit their assisted moonsault for a near fall. MSK take out GYV and LDF take out Nash before Zack goes after the injured hand of Wes and crushes it in the turnbuckle before locking in the Shankly Gates.
Nash drops Wes from tapping before LDF break up the submission and LDF clear the ring before hitting a flying kick into a side Russian leg sweep for a near fall. Everyone hit a move before GYV and MSK face off and brawl in the center of the ring before Zack takes out Wes and Nash counters A Ticket to Mayhem into a double cutter. MSK then finish off Zack for the pin and the win.
Winner: MSK defeat Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado Del Fantasma via pinfall to become the new NXT Tag Team champions.
- We get a breakdown of the matches on tomorrow night's Takeover show exclusively on Peacock.
- We see joshi superstar Sareeee alongside Stephanie McMahon at ringside now called Sarray since she signed with NXT.
NXT Women's Championship Match
Io Shirai (c) vs Raquel Gonzalez (w/ Dakota Kai)
Raquel drives Io into the corner and clotheslines her before tossing her into the corner and stomping her before Io counters a powerbomb into an enzuigiri and a hurricanrana. Io hits a running cross body in the corner into chops in the corner before sending Raquel through the ropes and out of the ring before hitting a suicide dive. Dakota chokes Io when the referee is checking on Raquel before she's a ejected from ringside and Io hits an asai moonsault before Raquel lawn darts her into the post. Back in the ring Raquel drops Io across the top rope for two before hitting several elbow drops for two before Io counters a suplex. Raquel drops Io with a single strike after Io hits her with a flurry of chops before Raquel locks in a Gory stretch and Io counters into a sunset flip stomp.
Io hits a 619 into a springboard missile dropkick before hitting a code red for two before going up top and counters a one armed powerbomb into a cross face. Raquel gets to the ropes for the break before Io hits a moonsault onto the ramp and a running meteora on the stage before hitting a diving cross body off of the top of the skull on the stage. Back in the ring Io hits a moonsault for a near fall before Raquel boots Io down at ringside and hits a one armed powerbomb onto the floor. Back in the ring Io then hits Raquel with a Shotei before Raquel turns her inside out and hits a one armed powerbomb for the pin and the win.
Winner: Raquel Gonzalez defeats Io Shirai via pinfall to become the new NXT Women's champion.
- After the match Raquel celebrates on the stage as we go off the air.
