Two of the top names in WWE's communications department have left the company.
Fightful reports that Adam Hopkins has departed WWE last week. Hopkins held the position of Vice President of Communications of WWE, and he had been with WWE for over 25 years. Throughout his time with the company, he had a number of roles, such as Fan Services Coordinator, Public Relations Coordinator, Manager of Media Relations, Senior Manager, Public Relations and Corporate Communication, Director Of Communications, Senior Director, and Public Relations/Corporate Communications. Johnson noted that Hopkins had a big role in building WWE's relationship with the media, as he was highly involved with setting up interviews. He also played a prominent part in NXT's growth throughout its rise under Paul Levesque.
PWInsider and Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp also report that the company has released Stefanie Fiondella, who had been the Vice President of Communications Fiondella started with the company in 2014 and worked as the Vice President, Marketing & Communications Operations until 2019. She was promoted to Vice President of Communications in April 2021.
Fiondella's LinkedIn profile notes that she recently received the Cynopsis Top Women in Media award. Her profile also notes that she "oversaw WWE’s thought-leadership program and strategy, secured speaking engagements at top leading industry events such as CES, SXSW, Cannes Lions, Advertising Week New York and Sports Business Journal for WWE’s executive team and talent."
Additionally, Fiondella's profile states that she was a "strategic planner with expertise in event production and promotion for WWE’s biggest ticketed events, including WrestleMania and its weeklong events and major partnership announcements in Saudi Arabia, China and India."
Sapp also reported that Senior VP of Communications Matt Altman is now in a different department.
Vince McMahon returned to the WWE Board of Directors on January 6, and he was voted the Executive Chairman of the Board on January 10. He is also the majority shareholder of the company.
