One of indy wrestling’s biggest stars has given a lot of praise to Daniel Bryan.
Zack Sabre Jr. did an interview with ESPN and talked about competing in the Cruiserweight Classic. He also talked about what the SmackDown Live General Manager and CWC commentator brought to the table for the tournament.
"To have him (Bryan) involved in the project gives an authenticity to the fans, especially the kind of fans that were already invested in the idea of this tournament. But if you're a fan who isn't familiar with international wrestling, with independent and cruiserweight wrestling, I think having Daniel involved in this project is such a huge benefit," Sabre said.
The former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion was a cruiserweight who was able to break the stereotype of what being a lighter weight wrestler was. Bryan gave more advice to Sabre, as well.
"I've been picking his brains about some stuff. He's given me some good pointers. His commentary with Mauro Ranallo is remarkable. I love it,” Sabre said.
The 29 year old, British wrestler has worked and continues to work around the world with many different wrestling promotions. Competing in the CWC and working with WWE, a common assumption is that Sabre will eventually go to NXT.
"I think it's definitely appealing. What NXT has become, I could definitely see myself in that environment. I would benefit from it. But I do have a personal journey as a professional wrestler that I want to travel,” Sabre said.
Sabre will face Noam Dar in the Cruiserweight Classic quarterfinals.
