Zack Sabre Jr captured the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling, defeating Tetsuya Naito in the main event.

ZSJ won the title with the Zack Driver.

After the bout, ZSJ was confronted by SANADA, who will challenged for the title at NJPW Royal Quest. Shota Umino and Shingo Takagi also came out to the ring, making their claim for a title shot.

This marks the first reign as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for ZSJ. He earned his title shot by winning the G1 Climax. Instead of taking his title shot at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom, he opted for the match at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling.

Naito's reign ends at 106 days. He made one successful title defense during his reign.
