Zicky Dice Reflects On Departure From TNA, 'I Was Always Just Kinda There'

Zicky Dice recalls learning about his departure from IMPACT/TNA Wrestling.

After joining the company in 2021, Dice finished up with IMPACT/TNA in July 2023. Throughout his run, Dice was mainly relegated to being a side character in various stories with Johnny Swinger and Brian Myers.

While appearing on a recent episode of Cultaholic's Desert Island Graps, Dice opened up about his departure from the promotion, noting that a friend was the one that told him he was going to wrestle in a 'Loser Leaves Town' match.

“So, I had shown up, and Swinger & I were in a program. I was like his special guest referee. I came to work and a buddy of mine was like, ‘Hey, what’s up with the booking?’ He says, ‘Yeah, you’re in a Loser Leaves IMPACT match with Swinger.’ I was like, ‘Woah, alright.’ Swinger and I were in a room together, I brought it up to him. That next day, Dreamer had pulled me aside and we went for a walk. We had a talk and he basically said that they don’t know what to do with the character at the moment and he thought that I would be a great heel manager or commentator. I replied, ‘I totally agree.’ He goes, ‘Really?’ I said, ‘Yeah, about twelve years from now.’ I feel like I have a lot more to show. I showed up, I did what I was told, I never gave any flack back and I was just waiting for that moment to showcase what Outlandish Zicky Dice could really do. Being under the learning tree with Brian Myers, being part of Swingers Dungeon, I was always just kinda just there."

Dice went on to speak briefly about his time in the NWA and how he believes he didn't get a proper reign with the NWA TV Championship.

"I feel like we look at Zicky Dice through different lenses and I have to remind people what I’m capable of. That’s from my time there, same with the NWA. I didn’t get the title reign I truly deserved or I was capable of with the NWA Television Championship and that’s because of COVID. There’s always something to learn, shut up and listen. So what did I learn from this? I’m still young, I’m in my prime, I’m doing everything in my power to show how much of an asset I can be to any company. If that call never comes, it’s gonna be a hard pill to swallow, but we’ll be just fine — and I have been for the past five years.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Dice recalled getting a phone call from Paul Heyman in 2020. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
