The Empress of Tomorrow also has a lot of Yesterdays.
Asuka has officially been the NXT Women's Champion for longer than anyone else, having surpassed Paige's record for a second time.
Paige’s reign is usually recognized as 274 days, when taking the TV taping schedule into account. Asuka surpassed that record over a month ago. However, from the time Paige first won the title until her title loss aired was 308 days. Asuka has now been NXT Women's Champion for 310 days.
And that's not all. Asuka is also the longest reigning singles champion in NXT history, male or female. She first won the title by defeating Bayley at Takeover: Dallas on April 1, 2016.
Finn Balor was the longest reigning male NXT Champion, holding the belt for 292 days before losing it to Samoa Joe. Asuka beat that record three weeks ago.
And if, as expected, Asuka keeps hold of the NXT Women's Title until NXT Takeover in Orlando on April 1st and reaches one full calendar year as champ, she will pass The Ascension to become the longest reigning champion of any kind--male, female, or tag team--in the history of NXT.
