Cody Rhodes is experiencing one of the most fruitful runs of his career -- and tonight will see him defend the ROH World Championship against Minoru Suzuki at Ring of Honor Death Before Dishonor XV.
Rhodes, known simply as Cody these days, also spoke to Brian Frtiz about his hot streak. One topic of note was his encounters with WWE Hall of Famers Stone Cold Steve Austin and Jim Ross following the NJPW G1 Special in July.
"I went outside to the parking lot and Steve Austin, who had watched the show, is yelling at me across the parking lot to come talk to him. He gave me a few pointers on what he saw and he praised the show overall and he seemed to like my match. Man, that was a really touching thing. Who isn't a fan of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and what he's done for wrestling? To get his pointers, to get his feel, to hear that he enjoyed it," said Rhodes.
Rhodes, who would come up short to Okada, had his match called by the aforementioned Ross. The legendary announcer also chimed in on the event.
"It was just a cool moment in time. And then Jim Ross jumped in. I'll treasure that moment forever because I've seen my dad when he was a booker talk to 'Stunning' Steve Austin, give him a pep talk. What a time to be alive when 20 years later that something like that is happening again," Rhodes explained.
