Werdum (21-7-1) has won just one of his last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Travis Browne at UFC 203. Werdum won the UFC Heavyweight Title when he submitted Cain Velasquez at UFC 188, but lost it to Stipe Miocic in his first title defense at UFC 198. Werdum is also a former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion, defeating Mark Hunt at UFC 180 to capture the gold.

Lewis (18-5-0-1NC) has won six of his last seven fights in UFC competition, most noatbly defeating Travis Browne, Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson. Lewis briefly retired after a loss to Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 110, but obviously changed his mind now. Lewis has been with the UFC for over three years now and this is the first time he is facing a former UFC Heavyweight Champion.

UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
