A middleweight division attraction is the latest addition to UFC 217 as former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks faces Paulo Borrachinha.
Hendricks (18-7-0) has won just one of two in the middleweight division, defeating Hector Lombard and suffering a defeat to Tim Boetsch. Hendricks became the UFC Welterweight Champion when he defeated Robbie Lawler by decision at UFC 171, but would lose the belt to Lawler in his first title defense at UFC 181. Hendricks has lost four of his last five fights and three of those losses came to fighters ranked in the welterweight division top 15.
Borrachinha (10-0-0) has already competed twice under the UFC banner, defeating the duo of Garreth McClellan and Oluwale Bamgbose. Borrachinha has yet to see any of his professional MMA fights go the distance and nine of his fights have ended within the opening round. Borrachinha is competing outside of his native Brazil for the first time in his professional MMA career, which has lasted over five years.
UFC 217 takes place on Saturday, November 4 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Michael Bisping and Georges St. Pierre headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
