Jim Cornette Calls WWE Writing 'Ludicrous'

The always outspoken Jim Cornette had some harsh words for the WWE writing team.

Cornette went on a rant about WWE's writing and their creative process during an interview with Total Wrestling Magazine

ROH Boxing Day Brawl Preview, Start Time, How To Watch (12/26): MIT Expulsion, Toni Storm Competes

"The writers have ‘ideas for people’ and try to find people who ‘look like’ those people. Instead of saying – ‘OK, people seem to like this guy, let’s run with him,’ they’ve already figured out what they want to put out there, they just need to find someone to play him," Cornette said. "It’s ludicrous. It’s why people don’t connect, and when they do connect, it’s for something the writers didn’t expect. So they get mad and bury the poor guy.”

The longtime manager best known for his work with the Midnight Express tag team, Cornette also is a former promoter of Smoky Mountain Wrestling and has served as a booker for SMW, as well as Ohio Valley Wrestling when it was a WWE developmental territory, and Ring Of Honor. Cornette also has worked for WWE and WCW, as well as the Mid-South, World Class, and Memphis territories back in the 1980s.

This is not the first time that Cornette has criticized WWE as of late. In August, he ripped the company's no-blood policy during an interview with Sports Illustrated following Summerslam, where the main event ended after Randy Orton received a ghastly head wound from a series of elbows from Brock Lesnar. The cut required 10 staples to close.

Cornette continues to take independent bookings and has his own podcast, the Jim Cornette Experience.
