Jim Cornette made his GFW return at tonight's Impact tapings, and will serve as a new authority figure for the brand.

Between spewing venom at Kenny Omega, continuing his feud with Vince Russo and even hurling insults at Fightful's very own Jimmy Van, Jim Cornette seemed to have done it all in 2017, but he's not done making the rounds around the wrestling business just yet.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has been talks within Global Force Wrestling to bring in Cornette as a television character.
Cornette has had a longstanding relationship with GFW owner Jeff Jarrett. Cornette originally worked shows for Jarrett when the original incarnation of Global Force Wrestling ran live events. Also, Cornette worked for TNA from 2006-09 when Jarrett was in charge of the company. Cornette returned to WWE for the first time since 2005 to induct The Rock 'n' Roll Express into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
This isn't the first wrestling personality from the past the company tried to get. Bruce Prichard is currently working in Global Force Wrestling as both an on-air talent and in a backstage advisory role.
The company is currently in the midst of its longest television tapings in quite some time. The tapings which run from August 17 to 20, will see an announcement regarding the vacant GFW World Heavyweight title and the likely television debut of Lucha Underground star Johnny Mundo. Mundo wrestled on GFW's recent house show tour in the northeastern part of the United States.
