Jim Ross thinks fans booing Roman Reigns can be fixed.
The WWE US Champion sometime receives boos when it is perceived he is intended to be the hero. In his blog, Ross would explore the possibility the line between good and bad is completely blurred.
"While some may proclaim that today's wrestling fans do not need/want clearly established antagonists and protagonists, i.e. 'faces and heels, and I could not disagree more. Agreed that society has nearly erased the line that separates good versus evil to a large degree but basic human nature still readily recognizes life's heroes and villains," wrote Ross.
Reigns has been considered a top star since the dissolution of The Shield. At first, WWE did not acknowledge fans' boos but eventually even Roman would acknowledge it with a small character pivot. Ross believes WWE could benefit from making more adjustments based on unplanned crowd reactions.
"When talents who are positioned as fan favorites and who currently are booed on a regular basis, one potential remedy might be for the talents to wrestle as 'villains' to better fit their individual presentations. Steve Austin wrestled as a 'rough, baby face' in his biggest years and it resonated for him.This might work for Roman Reigns, for example, who might be better served to not over react to the reaction of the fans and do his business, be physical and athletic and let the cards fall where they may," wrote Ross.
Ross continued to say he understands fans getting caught up in a crowd mentality and finding fun in booing a clear fan favorite . He believes those fans deserve to express themselves within reason. In another blog Ross would say AJ Styles and Sasha Banks are two others who could benefit from similar adjustments.
