Rumors Regarding TNA Sale, WWE Involvement, More

TNA's potential sale has a new wrinkle, as another company could be interested in buying Total Nonstop Action.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is an unnamed company that wants to get into the professional wrestling business, as ROH parent company Sinclair Broadcasting and WWE are also reportedly interested in buying the company.

WWE's primary focus on acquiring TNA appears to be for their video library. WWE typically pays $500 per hour of footage. Several WWE stars have had long careers in TNA, including Samoa Joe, WWE World Champion AJ Styles and Austin Aries. Sinclair wants TNA's international television deals in India and England.

As for the mystery company, according to the Observer, they want to work with several non-WWE United States promotions, as well as international promotions in terms of talent usage and run live events. This mystery company would be making more moves than simply just buying TNA.

Arlouxe is still a potential buyer as they are also the creditor that TNA owes the most amount of money to. There are those involved with the company that feel with all the debt that TNA has acquired in the past several years, they may be forced into bankruptcy. Despite Dixie Carter still owning 70% of the company, she is not making decisions for the company as Billy Corgan's new role as TNA President and head of day-to-day operations gives him that spot. Carter is looking to sell her 70% stake in the company between $4 million and $6 million.

Even with the possibility of the company being bought out, there an issue with finding a new revenue stream. TNA has had issues with paying it's employees on and off for years and Corgan had to bail the company out of a big short term debt that would have prevented them from holding this year's Slammiversary show. The average TNA television taping costs $600,000 to $800,000.
