Max Holloway is the current UFC Featherweight Champion, defeating Jose Aldo for the gold in the main event of UFC 212.
In order to get another shot at UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, the featherweight kingpin is willing to move up a weight class.
“I’m turning 26, I’m growing, so if that fight happens, it’s probably at (155). Don’t forget your boy is Hawaiian and Samoan. I love to eat. Lightweight is not out of the question,” Holloway told Flo Combat.
McGregor won the initial fight between the two by decision and Holloway became the first fighter in the UFC to take the Irish fighter the distance.
One thing that angers Holloway is that McGregor is still going around and claiming that he is the real UFC Featherweight Champion.
“He can go around and tell everyone he’s the featherweight champion, but he keeps forgetting numbers. It’s 2017. Imagine LeBron (James) going around and saying that he didn’t want to play against Golden State this year because he beat them the year before. That makes no sense, and Golden State ended up winning. People look at this sport different than other sports, and it blows my mind. The whole thing is just crazy,” says Holloway.
While Holloway hasn’t competed since UFC 215, it has been even longer since McGregor competed because his last bout in the promotion took place at UFC 205.
