Al Iaquinta was last seen in the Octagon at UFC 223, suffering a unanimous decision loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Iaquinta was actually the third different fighter to be scheduled to fight Nurmagomedov at the event, with the other two being UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway and former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson.
Ferguson recently took the following shot at Iaquinta through Twitter, calling him a non-full time fighter and real estate agent:
.Beats a non-full time fighter real estate agent ranked #11 on @ufc roster, and I get Stripped when same thing happened to @rjwhittaker1990 @teamkhabib run til’ November #PaperChump -------------- https://t.co/es3xBJEPSR

The former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion even blasted UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero in the Twitter post.
While Whittaker and Romero have yet to respond, it cannot be said for Iaquinta, which would spark a Twitter battle:
the ufc stripped you cause your a weirdo and Whittaker isn’t

Damn Son You Didn’t Even Belong In That Cage, Although I WAS rooting For You, Weird Is Having To Make Your Own Name Plate At Media Day. Sad To See How You SOLD OUT To Fight For A Title When You Couldn’t Even Win The Title. Star Struck. Best Of Luck Kid. Get Back In Line.

Neither Ferguson or Iaquinta have a fight booked at the moment, so they could battle each other after Ferguson’s knee injury heals up.
