UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, is looking forward to putting an end to his rivalry with current interim bantamweight champ, Petr Yan, in their rematch at UFC 273 on Saturday night.
Sterling spoke with reporters during the media day for this weekend's pay-per-view event and explained he's grown a bit tired of hearing the constant criticism over the past 13 months from Yan, and fans alike about the pair's first meeting at UFC 259 ending in a disappointing disqualification. The 32-year old Uniondale, New York native is excited to give his retractors a taste of their own medicine after he presumably defeats Yan and permanently put their rivalry behind him.
“I smoke him, what are people going to say?” Sterling said (h/t MMA Junkie). “What are people going to say if and when I smoke this guy? It’s a little sweet to stick it to people a little bit, kind of rub it in their faces. People did it to me. When I do it back, I hope people can take it the same way I had to take it for 13 months. I’m ready to just end this chapter and move on to the next one.”
