Nathaniel Wood was in need of a new opponent for UFC 232 after the withdraw of Tim Duquesnoy and now he has one because the UFC has announced that Andre Ewell will step in as a short notice replacement.
Wood (14-3-0) is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Johnny Eduardo by second round submission at UFC Fight Night Utica. Wood is a former Cage Warriors Bantamweight Champion and defended the gold three times before signing with the UFC earlier this year. Wood has competed seventeen times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.
Ewell (14-4-0) is also undefeated thus far in his UFC tenure, having defeated Renan Barao by split decision at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo. Ewell will also enter the contest on the strength of a five fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over a year. Ewell has picked up fourteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and half of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
