Following nine months on the run, Donald Aaron was arrested on May 24th after initially being halted at a traffic stop due to allegedly speeding.
The estranged husband of UFC Flyweight Andrea Lee, Aaron has been wanted on charges of domestic battery abuse and false imprisonment. The arrest warrant was first issued by Shreveport police last August, with Aaron allegedly choking Lee and threatening to put a cigarette out on her arm. Nine months later and he's finally been apprehended in Upshur County, Texas. Aaron was supposedly speeding and also had an illegal amount of marijuana in his possession. The arrest was first reported by MMA Junkie.
It's since been confirmed by Shreveport (Louisiana) Police Department spokesperson Christina Curtis, telling ESPN that the 43 year old was then extradited to Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He'll face charges of domestic battery as well as a failure to appear in court. A jail spokesperson also told ESPN that after being booked into Caddo Correctional Center on Wednesday, Aaron was released on $1,700 bond that same day.
A former police officer, Aaron was previously convicted of negligent homicide in 2009, shooting Ronald Jaminson, an unarmed African American man outside his home. No court date has been set for this current case though.
