The search for Aniah Blanchard, who is the stepdaughter of UFC fighter Walt Harris, has come to a tragic end as the human remains discovered yesterday have been identified as Blanchard’s.
Auburn Police Chief Paul Register confirmed the tragic news via a press conference held earlier today.
“It is with heavy hearts that we so confirm today that the remains are in fact of Aniah Blanchard,” Register said in a news conference streamed by WBRC (via the Montgomery Advertiser). “This case will move forward as a homicide investigation.”
Ibraheem Yazeed, Antwain Fisher and David Lee Johnson Jr. have all been arrested in connection with Blanchard’s disappearance, both Yazeed and Fisher are being held without bond at this time.
Register stated during the news conference that it appears that Blanchard wasn’t familiar with Yazeed, who was the first person arrested by authorities.
“We don’t have any reason to know that she was familiar with him but we certainly can’t rule out completely that there would have been some knowledge,” Register said. “But at this point we don’t have knowledge she knew him."
Aniah was just 19 years old.
