This will be Joshua's first fight since December 2020, when he outclassed Kubrat Pulev in the SSE Arena, beating him via KO. Fighting professionally since 2013, Joshua became IBF Heavyweight Champion in 2016 by beating Charles Martin. The Olympic gold medalist would then beat the likes of Alexander Povetkin, Wladimir Klitschko, and Joseph Parker, collecting titles along the way. He was supposed to face Jarrell Miller in 2019, but the latter tested positive for multiple illegal substances. Inside Madison Square Garden, Joshua would end up facing and losing to Andy Ruiz in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Joshua rebounded and beat Ruiz in a rematch in Saudi Arabia, and would then beat Pulev. He agreed in principle to face Tyson Fury in an undisputed heavyweight title fight, but Deontay Wilder's team stopped that from happening.

Now, Joshua faces a mandatory opponent in Usyk. The former undisputed cruiserweight champion, Usyk made his professional debut in 2013. Winning the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight final against Murat Gassiev, Usyk decided to make the move to heavyweight. Another Olympic gold medalist, Usyk made his heavyweight debut in 2019, beating Chazz Witherspoon via retirement. He then beat Derek Chisora for the WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title.

Fightful will be providing results, highlights, and everything else in-between for Joshua-Usyk.
