Nick Newell made good on his word and Bellator MMA made good on theirs because the promotion has signed the fighter to a multi-fight contract. Newell said that Bellator MMA officials told him that a win at Bellator 225 would earn the fighter a contract, so Newell defeated Corey Browning at the event and now the competitor is officially a part of the roster.
Bellator MMA posted the following on Twitter:

A newly signed Newell commented on the signing via Instagram:
There has been no word from either Newell or Bellator MMA as to the length of the contract or any financial numbers associated with the deal. Newell did say that his next fight would be announced soon, but didn’t elaborate on anything further at this time.
Newell is going to be competing in the lightweight division as a member of the Bellator MMA roster, with that weight class currently ruled by Patricio Pitbull.
