Former Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler recently signed a new deal with the promotion, keeping him in the Viacom owned promotion for the foreseeable future.

Bellator MMA Featherweight Champion Patricio Pitbull believes that Chandler stayed with Bellator in order to avoid drug testing from USADA.

“I’ve already said it before in interviews and tweeted about it: Chandler wasn’t going anywhere near USADA,” Pitbull told MMA Junkie. “He was just talking about the UFC as negotiation tactics. That guy is one of the biggest PED users in the sport.”

While Bellator MMA does have drug testing, it does not handle the testing through USADA, but through the various athletic commissions they run events with.

Pitbull is happy that Chandler stayed with the promotion so his brother Patricky can get revenge for past losses against the former champion. Patricky has lost twice before to Chandler, with one loss being for the then vacant Bellator Lightweight Title.

“I think it’s a good thing he stayed,” Pitbull said. “That way my brother can avenge his loss, and I can beat him up, too.”

While Chandler is indeed back with the promotion, no word has been given at this time as to when he will compete again or whom that can come against.
