One time UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title challenger Bethe Correia hasn’t been seen in the Octagon since getting knocked out by former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm at UFC Fight Night Singapore.
Correia was supposed to fight Irene Aldana a little over a month ago at UFC Fight Night St. Louis, but was pulled from the bout in order to have eye surgery done.
“I had a healing problem and had to do a second surgery to fix it,” Correia said to MMA Fighting. “I was using eye drops but they weren’t working, so I had to do another surgery by the end of February. Nothing serious, but I had to do it.”
Another statement that Correia made was that she expects to be stepping back into the Octagon by June or July of this year.
The Brazilian fighter challenged then UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey for the gold at UFC 190, suffering a swift first round knockout loss. Correia has won just one of four since the title loss, with that lone win coming over Jessica Eye by decision at UFC 203 in September of 2016.
